Scalp Acupuncture is quickly making its mark as one of the most effective acupuncture styles. Fine sterile needles are inserted in specific regions on the scalp that may signal the central nervous system and correspond to zones and function of the body. Scalp acupuncture is especially helpful for motor-impairment and spinal conditions.
Auricular Acupuncture uses the ears as a micro system or microcosm. The entire human body has been mapped out on the ears. With the proper diagnosis and treatment protocol we can address many physical and emotional conditions using specific points on the ears. Fine sterile needles are most often used, yet at times we may opt for tiny ear tacs or seeds that apply continuous stimulation to the points. Auricular therapy is especially effective for chemical dependencies and related detoxification. Smoking cessation often employs auricular acupuncture therapy. It can be utilized as an adjunct or specialize therapy
Japanese style acupuncture incorporates the principle of more is less. This style attempts to use the least number of needles with minimal or no needle stimulation. We may use thinner needles and shallower needle insertions. Needle angles and palpation of the body along with other diagnostic tools are utilized. This may be a good choice for highly sensitive patients.
Korean Hand Acupuncture actually exists as a branch of the broader system of Korean Acupuncture. Korean Acupuncture is known for blending Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Five Element Acupuncture, and even Japanese Style Acupuncture. The micro-system of the entire body has been mapped out on the hand. We are trained to find the sensitive points near the corresponding target site. Needling these sensitive points can deliver powerful results.
Five Element Acupuncture is based on an ancient philosophy that divides all that exists into five principles or “elements”. The elements are earth, metal, water, wood and fire. We use this intricate system to detect imbalances in the body, based on your signs and symptoms. Five Element Acupuncture utilizes techniques to harmonize the communication networks in the body to re-establish balance (homeostasis).
This system may also be known as Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). It is the most commonly taught and practiced style of acupuncture in America. Diagnosis is done by using the eight guiding principles; hot/cold, internal/external, yin/yang, and excess/deficiency. Upon completion of the diagnosis the acupuncturist selects appropriate acupuncture and adjunct therapies to restore the body’s imbalances.
